Anyone tried making/moulding some perspex/acrylic sheet for a fairing screen?
Evidently you can heat it up ina warm oven and lay it on a suitable radius or even the old screen..
.. thought it might be fun to try bfore splashing out 80 quid for a 'proper' one. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750, SL1000

HI WD
Ta.
I think 175C seems popular I may be bang outta luck though as I have a gas oven! Never mind I can surely find one.. also I'm thinking that the screen has such a shallow curve it may not need permanently forming if 3mm used.
OTH maybe that will cause stress and cracking ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750, SL1000

Piece of cake. Make a mould or if you're using an old screen put it in a shallow box with expanding foam behind it so your heat doesn't cause both to sag. Get your sheet of acrylic and heat it as evenly as you can then drape it over the old screen until it sags into that shape and wait for it to cool. I'd use an infra-red heater but you could use a paint stripper gun and keep it moving. If you cook it too much it'll get bubbles in it so make sure you have spare material.
Oh, and wear gloves coz it burns like hot jam. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
