Looks like it's going to be a bit windy up this end of the country, forecasting gusts of up to 85mph ... all buses and trains cancelled.

When I were a lad we just got on with it, in fact we held the bottom of our jackets and then put the jacket up in the air to act as a sail ... the good'ol'days Laughing

I've ridden in wind like that when I was younger, I saw it as a challenge, I'm older now and don't think I'll bother going out tomorrow Thumbs Up

On the way to the Dragon Rally a few years back, I came over the crest of a hill in Snowdonia and a wind gust stopped my 612 enfield dead in the road from cruising at 50mph in third. Had the four people ahead of me off their bikes.

Fun times. That was the year of the port-a-loo ground torpedoes. Although not the windiest one I've been to. Oh how they laughed when they saw me ratchet strapping my bike down to a pair of screw-in ground anchors in the field. They weren't laughing next morning.

It's a shame that all the rubbish in my garden has been blown into neighbour's gardens. Saved me a trip to the tip. Very Happy

ANd here in tropical Milton Keynes we had a bit of a blow, a little breeze with some rain. I'm sure we live in an alternate weather universe. Climate change my arse. Laughing

Conversely,

Plus a work colleague in Wales had the roof and windows of his house damaged, and was without power for some time.

I'm without power, been that way since 10.30pm on Friday. Which is odd because the wind had long gone past by then and it was actually a still, clear night by then.

I have a suspicion I've just been turned off so they can turn on power elsewhere because it seems everyone in a radius round the local town has no power but the town does. Maybe lost a phase or two. There's certainly no evidence of damage or work going on on the line between the sub-station and my house, or indeed the main supergrid step-down and my local sub-station.

They were projecting it coming back on at 6pm tonight. I hadn't planned on defrosting the freezer this weekend, but here we are.

Half the countryside is under water again here. Just in the 10 years I've lived here it's gone from maybe every 3 years to multiple times a year.

And it's going to get worse. So stop the powers that be wittering on about net zero carbon etc. which isn't going to make an iota of difference as long a the big countries are still classed as 3rd world and allowed to use huge numbers of coal power stations. Start spending the 'green' money on things that matter. Proper flood defenses, river deepening, beavers even have been proved to help. Forest replanting etc. Electric cars in Britain will do fcuk all to help us.

So are you agreeing that the Orange Fuckwit withdrawing from the Paris accord is a bad thing?

After all their output of greenhouse gases are comparable to China, the top producer.

China is second world and not third world, btw.

China is first world. So is India. They are quite happy pretending that they aren't so they can carry on doing whatever they want.

The Orange man is going to do whatever he thinks is best for America. He's said that all along. The Paris accord is a useless unworkable bit of filibustering by the people in charge of countries who know their people don't give a flying f about climate change.

You ask an itinerant farm worker from somewhere in India what he wants it will be an Iphone and the same standard of goodies as they have it Bombay. You tell him 'sorry mate, can't have that cause the world has heated up an extra degree or so and he'll tell you to FO. That's why the Paris accord wont work, ever. It doesn't matter the amount of people who have all the luxuries now, it matters the amount of people who haven't and want them. They are going to push global warming and there isn't the slightest thing that anyone can do about it.

Second world country?

Isn't that just divisive and outdated terminology that serves no purpose other than to arbitrarily divide people?

GDP per capita is the reason why China is still considered a developing country.

Doesn't prove much since that's supposed to be a road outside her house built on a flood plain no doubt.

How about the countries where non-natives with knifes rule the streets, trying to introduce the new/old things from their home and native people are bowing to any minority because reasons, while the governments of said countries instead of dealing with all that decided to destroy the domestic industry and business?

It came back on Sunday night but the flickering on and off and farting about when it did so seems to have fucked my central heating boiler. Hoping it's just the capacitor on the burner but it's very not happy. Nothing in the error codes covers what it's doing, there's a light on the burner that should either be off, red, orange or green. Nothing about flickering orange every 30 seconds.

We get a lot of power cuts of various kinds, if it ever comes on seemingly at low voltage don't use anything with a motor or leave fridge/freezers turned on.
Because they will likely burn something out trying to start.
The local Coop had to repair all the cold cabinets when it happened here.

Or that mythical place a certain Herr Khan rules, Londonistan I think it's called. I've heard a priest, or is it an Abbott says it's a wonderful place for knife wielding Zulus to take over. Whistle
