 |
|
I read recently that it's preferred to use bearings with a larger (C3) clearance for motorcycle wheels.. Anyone else heard that? Doesn't seem to make much difference in price but I'm now curious. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750, SL1000

They'll be more tolerant of heat with them being a high speed bearing, although if your wheel bearings are getting hot, it's probably less than ideal.
Also they're grease lubricated so there's more room for the grease to move about inside the races.
Not a place where you need a very precise location/runout (comparatively speaking) so why not use the higher clearance.
I doubt it would take any harm if you just used standard clearance though. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

Yes, what I read. up to 22000 rpm or something - about 10 x a bike wheel ! ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750, SL1000
