The wife has trouble with a conventional grater. She's got this sort:

But not really helping. And this sort (Mandoline):

Doesn't really grate, more fine slices (julienne?) So now I'm thinking:

unless anyone has any better suggestions?

I bought my Mum (who has arthritic hands) a cuisipro microplane box grater with a big handle on top.

It annihalates anything you try to grate with it with minimal effort.

A word of caution though, if it's an actual dexterity control issue rather than a grip/function problem, this is not the thing to get because it will make an equally fine and rapid mess of knuckles and fingertips.

If she can keep her hands away from the faces though, it does a very good job. I have one myself and it grates the hell out of stuff.

Ten times more expensive, and goes all rubbery so doesn't melt like hand grated cheese. It's like buying pre chopped vegetables... you over pay for something that isn't as good.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

If you have some money to burn you could try the Bamix slicer.
