Evening all,

I don't clock up a lot of miles on 2 wheels these days, but the boots I reserve for the bike are getting pretty worn out. I won't lie; they aren't bike boots. I accidentally bought some non-safety 'work' boots, 8" ones. But now they are due replacement I'm looking into proper bike boots.

However, I've noticed that most bike boots have terribly poor tread pattern/depth.
I WILL need to walk around in slippery mud in whatever boot I get.

Looking to not spend more than £100.

Can any of you recommend an alright boot with all the right armour and tread decent enough to keep me stood upright in the mud?

I'd ather something that looks like military boots than Power Ranger attire, but this is the least important of my requirements!

Thanks in advance!

...also, needs to be waterproof/resistant, as most of my riding is done during winter.

There's only one I know that does everything you want but they are way over your budget. Altbergs.

Altberg defenders come in around the 50 quid mark. They arent the all singing all dancing custom fitted type of altbergs though and have no extra 'bike armour'

Ive crashed in my old pair a few times and I still have 2 complete feet with no NHS metalwork added mind.

stinkwheel Well I just had my hands up a pigs fanny. Which makes your concerns pale into insignificance.

That is fairly close, I do prefer slightly taller ones for a bit more ankle protection.

With ones like that are they actually armoured properly, or closer to a work boot? Only asking as I see bike boots with proper ankle plates built in.

Although to be fair my bike is only 200kg...

I've been using these boots for years. Bates 8 inch Tactical side zip boots. They have a non-slip Vibram sole and the zipper makes them easy to get on and off. Crash tested once at 100kph; good ankle support. Best feature of all, they're "tactical"! I paid 90USD for mine, if you look around a little, you should be able to find a pair within budget.

Thanks guys, it looks like what I want DOES exist, and within budget, current hold-up is finding it in my size Laughing

I'll get there in the end!
