Well after my look at building a custom PC case I put it on the back burner ... I then decided to try and buy a cheap second hand board/cpu/ram combo (say a 10th gen Intel) to upgrade my old system cheaply.

I kept my eye on a few and then thought feck it ... I've now built myself a new system with a 14700K, 32GB RAM, Gigabyte Aorus Z790 Pro X motherboard etc.

I though I'd hold off on the graphics card until the end of the year and just use my GTX 1070 ... well that didn't work, it isn't being detected by the new system!

I found a bit online about legacy and UEFI boot modes, and I know my system uses UEFI, so I though the card might not support it, but GPUz says that it's EUFI compliant.

So if anyone has any ideas of how to get it working then it'd be appreciated Thumbs Up

Have you got an old system to check the 1070 on? Yes, it may have been working when you took it out but is it working now?

How's the fit in the slot? I've had alignment issues in the past, you might want to lay the case/motherboard horizontal and have the card shoved into the slot without screwing in the bracket. Go careful obviously.

I doubt very much it's a compatibility issue but you might want to see if there's any speed limiting options for the PCIe5.0 slot in the motherboard settings.

Yeah that should work, it's pre UEFI garbage, my spare 1070ti works on my board which isn't too far from yours.

Not that I'd dare run a game on that, the bottle neck is like the worst ever, but always worth trying another card if you happen to have one to rule out faulty pcie, also some boards gimp pcie if you use M.2 drives. Worth going absolute bare bones CPU GPU ram and see if it's detected.

Still working perfectly in my old system.

Perfect, well as far as I can tell, it's clicked in properly.

How dare you ... luckily it's off at the moment and didn't hear you ... as for pre UEFI, well GPUz reports it as UEFI enabled and the interweb also says it's compatible.

I've had no problems with the games I've been running, but for newer GPU intensive games I know it'll be useless ... I'm going to buy a new RTX 5080, but was hoping to hold off until the Super versions come out ... might just go for a second hand RTX 3080 Ti for now Thumbs Up

have you removed all old graphics drivers before installing the new card?

Certainly worth checking - thats a decent board - it should have plenty of lanes available. My X570 Aorus Elite doesn't have this issue but my boys Gigabyte B350 does - sharing Sata ports 5 and 6 with the pcie slot iirc.

Otherwise, i'ts possible that support was discontinued with a recent BIOS update. Worth reading the BIOS update changelogs which most of these manufacturers have on their websites.

Brand new system with brand new install of Windows Thumbs Up

Hopefully I've solved the problem by purchasing an Asus ROG Strix 3080 OC Edition 12GB ... hopefully here by the weekend ... bought on Ebay this time so should be protected if it's a scam (again) Laughing

I meant UEFI enforcement garbage, not the card Wink

Gotcha ... I'll need to put a cover over it when the new card arrives, don't want it getting upset Laughing
