I wear ear plugs but I think it would be useful to wear earbuds so I can listen to the sat nav.

Can you please recommend me some earbuds that'll also help protect my ears

Thank you

I used these for a while but replaced them with Alpine earplugs and a Sena intercom as I went touring with my other half and thought an intercom would be useful.

I still have them and they are decent. The only issue is that the voice it has speaks chinese, but the sound quality is good, the white noise isolation is decent, and the battery life is very long indeed.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I like the Earpeace ones.
The pack includes different sizes and different noise level filters.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but don't those 'tails' that stick out (which I'm assuming are to make them easy to pull out) rub on the inside of your helmet and get annoying?

I use Alpine plugs that have a very similar design and I've never once felt them when riding. I wouldn't imagine they're near enough the lining to cause any issues.

I don’t think any of the suggestions feature active noise-cancelling.

I always wear foam ear plugs on the bike but I keep intending (and forgetting) to try my Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds to see if they adequately dampen wind noise, allow some sounds through like ear plugs do and effectively relay satnav directions. For the price they were a bit of a disappointment music-wise and I was expecting the noise-cancelling to be total, which was probably unrealistic.

Has anyone tried active noise-cancelling with the addition of satnav? I’ll try and give it a go late next week. I suppose the other concern might be battery life.

No the silicone is very soft and you don't notice them at all

I'd think noise cancelling would block out all traffic noise so maybe a bad thing.

That’s what I thought but as I sit here with the telly on and the app showing ‘noise-cancelling’ there is an effect but I can still hear the telly.

Both my Bose earbuds and headphones have various levels of noise cancellation so you can block out most noise but still let some through.

Worth looking to see if that's an option for you.
