Bought an 2024 R7 for a really good price, too good it seems.
My last bike was a 1999 R1 and I wasnt overly concerned this bike came with one key.
I always planned to get some spares and tracked down the dealership that originally sold it. It turns out they will only sell a new ECU/Barrel/other bits for several thousand £££.
Sooo, reading about, I've read key cloning is possible however Motomatrix appears to be a scam and I can't find much else.
Is it actually a thing on modern bikes or am I sh*t out of luck? |
A proper auto-locksmith should be able to help - they carry lots of electronic gubbinery these days. The fact you have one key is a massive help I think. It might still be £100s but not 1000s - can you get a 'blank' anywhere? I got one for my Sprinter unofficial not genuine Merc that my mate (autosmith) programmed. Still not easy but much better than 'all keys lost' situation. He told me the 'blank' cost him about 40 quid. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

Timpsons will do that for you as will pretty much any other local automotive key cutting place.

Well,
the good news its just a regular bladed key that can be cloned at Timpsons, job jobbed.
The confusion was everyone else I spoke to assumed it was keyless which is where it gets expensive/complicated.
So from what I've been told, if it's a physical key then it should be fine
Thanks for the input, apologies about my flappy panic! |
