Hi, New member here. I'm an old fart, 62, returning to biking after a 35 year hiatus. I've got me a GSX650F (with ABS).

How the hell do you get the battery box to fit correctly ?!! I can get it in so that the M6 bolts on the sides fit nicely, but there are two screws on the back of the box that are supposed to go into plastic pillars, but there's like a 20mm vertical gap between the flange on the box and the plastic pillars ! I can't see anything obvious that's stopping the box from going down at the back, but it is difficult to see.

Anyone had this issue before ?

Ta !

I've never known a battery box or airbox that wasn't an absolute pig to fit - Until I bought my 1994 FireBlade.

The issue is that the bike is built in a specific order, and stuff like the airbox and battery box are usually fitted early in that process. They are also usually moulded in such a way that they ONLY fit one way and need other elements of the bike to be removed. With my KR1S I remember having to basically dismantle the whole bike to get the rear shock out, because the top bolt on the shock sits in a small recess in the base of the airbox, so it means you have to basically strip the bike down to a frame, engine and wheels to get the chuffing shock out.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
