Brake line sealing washers

Traditionally copper and quite thin. Recent m/c I bought (a YBR 125 clone to fit my SRX) came with dowty type washers. These are thicker so must be used with the correct banjo bolt to align the fluid feed hole I think.
I used some copper as is my preference and the joint seems to be weeping.. thoughts? Also can teh 'dowty' ones be re-used?

Yes dowty washer can be re-used.

Maybe need to anneal the copper ones, they could have gone hard. Clean them up, heat to cherry red then allow to cool. This softens the copper to form a seal when compressed. The copper work hardens and to an extent age hardens so if they've been sitting about for a while or have been clattering about in a box, they can go hard.

You may also try to lightly tap (small hammer + punch) the bolt a bit when tightening it. Tighten the bolt snug, then tap the bolt's head lightly, and then finish the tightening.

This helps flatten the washer into any surface gaps, since copper is way softer than the material of your brake caliper.
