Am I the only race enthusuast to get extremely cheesed off when the tv directors on British Eurosport show really stupid shots when a GP or WSB race is on? For example:
1. the shot looking at the rider changing up and down gears
2. the shot looking at the rider pulling in the clutch lever
3. the shot looking up at the rider's face (usually a dark visor!)
4. the shot looking at the riders bottom
5. the shot of the winner after crossing the finishing line, despite there being a very exciting 3, 4, 5th etc place finish

It makes my blood boil, I end up shouting at the tv screen.....

My other bug bear is the lack of track noise on some circuits...I wanna hear the grunt of the bikes during the tv race...luckily we have Randy who sometimes leaves his mic on as the bikes thunder past him!

Is there anything we can do, enmass? A big petition for the tv directors of Eurosport to get their acts together and show the viewer what we want to see...not what he/she thinks we want to see.

I have looked on their website and have come up with an email address only: enquires@eurosports.co.uk
But we could really do with a mass petition UK wide & the name of the responsible person/s. Anyone know the channels in which to start this??? Question

I also hate the way they focus on the MotoGP class, maybe some of us are more interested in the up and coming stars in the 125/250's!

The BBC ain't much better either, all they seem to be interested in is showing Suzi Perry wandering round the starting grid Confused.

I can't say I mind the close-up shots, though for the last GP they did use them a bit much.

There's plenty about the guys in the small classes too, during the qualifying and races. What more would you like to see?

There's nothing wrong at all with showing us Suzi Perry wandering around the grip, only improvement I can make is that she wears a BBC bikini Very Happy

I do agree about the poor camera shots they sometimes show, it's the same on the BBC and ITV though as usually they're buying the shots from a different TV company so they're reliant upon directors who don't work for them.

Hey, I like the gear level shot, esp when right down to the ground on a tight high speed turn.

I like the gear/clutch shots too, so long as they're not overdone. As for suzi perry - i'd happily watch her walk about for thewhole hour..

If you dislike aspects of it then if you call them/ email them/ write to them to tell them that then there is a better chance of it being changed than if you moan about it here. If they don't get any complaints then it is fair for them to assume that everyone is happy with it.

E-mail them and ask them who you should contact in regards to the way the programs are put together. They might be willing to listen if people gave them feedback but if they don't then petition would suitable then but it will be lots easier to just send them emails telling them about what you like and dislike on the programs.

I really like the unusual camera shots - it gives a real insight into how the top riders ride, how late they brake into corners, how they move around the bike, etc.
As for the Suzi Perry comments, for goodness sake, if you want to watch some fit woman in a bikini, watch beach volleyball - this is BIKE racing, not free porn! Rolling Eyes

Its nothing to do with Eurosport though, is it ??

All they are doing is showing the race as it is televised by the national broadcaster.

Now and then is okay...but did you watch the last GP race??? It was a constant thing...we could hear Toby commentating in the background telling us what exciting things were happening between Capirossi & Gibernau (for example) and in the meantime we were on an extended view of Rossi changing gear.

TBH once you've seen the gear changes a couple of times - its gets a tad tedious...'specially when there is some exciting overtaking taking place elsewhere!!!!

Personally I prefer the road scene shots from the bikes (forwards and backwards). Thumbs Up

You can't blame Eurosport they get sent the same pictures as everybody else,it's the local director which chooses what we see, sometimes you can hear the frustration in Toby and Julians voices as the victor crosses the line or the local rider laps on his own in 6th and we miss the action elsewhere on the track.

I've heard the commentators many a time shouting that they don't want to see the guy that's just gone into the gravel when a battle is raging up near the front. Or when a replay of an event is shown just as someone goes for an overtake.

I take it's a similar thing to F1 where in Italy you'll get 2 hours of a Ferrari on it's own out in front cos the director's Italian.

Whatever happened to Bernie's great digital TV idea where we'd all be able to choose which camera we wanted to watch anyway?

A bit like whenever the world supers are on & the Italian director insists on showing Frankie Chile (Who I admire immensely by the way) back in 7/8th place.
I tell you what though it makes my day when the directors kep on showing the boot shot or the hand shot as Clanger gets all animated jumping up & down & shouting at the telly Laughing

Totally agree with initial post.

I had no idea what those race bikes sounded like really until I went to BSB at Knockhill in August - TV just doesn't do the sound justice.

I want to feel the ground shaking cracking and popping noises from those bikes getting pumped out through Nicam surround Sound - not some tinny noise you'd expect from a moped! Let me feel the horse power!!!

But then you look at football - you can hear players shouting and even foot making contact with the ball Shocked There are mics everywhere on a football pitch.

Get it sorted Mad
