Hi guys,
Had a look at my bike in recovery today and the damage looks not that bad (to the untrained eye).
The steering lock is fine but the bastards broke the 'yolk' to circumvent the lock and the forks are now misaligned. what is the proper name for this item and whats its proper name? On looking through some websites I couldn;t find anything.
On a sorta positive note the fairing got really badly scoured but its on the side I banged when I came off on friday. So I think a repair job is on the cards (thats god because I would have been even more fucked of had it beeen on the other side).

Try these two ebayers. They are breaking NSRs. Drop them both an email. Thumbs Up

I suppose the question is then should I try and fix it myself? I mean the forks seem miss aligned now but I think this would be remedied with the new yoke. Am I being too ambitous given that am a designer geek as oppossed to a spanner monkey?

The top yoke is over £100 from david silver spares, as long as it is off a newer foxeye model it will fit. The Yoke is very simple to fit, loosen the pinch bolts then you only have to remove the steering stem nut, and the fork tube caps, perhaps the handle bars as well but that yoke is not the same as the one on my older NSR. The steering stem nut needs to be tightened to 52ft lbs from memory (could be different on the newer models) once you get the fork tubes in the yoke everything will be aligned.

Shouldn't be too difficult to do. You just need to remove the top yoke nut, and loosen 2 or 4 pinch bolts on the top yoke. I forget how the NSR is assembled, but you may or may not need to unbolt the ignition barrel at some point too.

To untwist the yokes, you'll probably need to loosen the pinch bolts on the bottom yoke as well. Then wiggle the bars a bit until they settle and look straight. Then tighten everything up.
