Boots:
Alpinestars, Oxtar, Sidi or Daytona (if you can afford them Shocked

Gloves:
Clover, Joe Rocket, Hein Gericke, Nankai (If you can afford them! Shocked )

Leathers:
Joe rocket, Hein Gericke, Clover, Hideout, JTS, any really... or Alpinestars or Dianese (if you can afford them! Shocked )

Lids:
Shark, Roof, AGV , HJC, Shoei, again any really as long as they have an ACU gold sticker. Arai if you can afford one! Shocked

Pretty much anything as long as its the right price and isn't from a bargain bin. Saying that, you can get some good gloves from bargain bins if you know how to weed out the crap! Smile

Erm i forgot to mention im on a budget of er...£200.
Not much i know but its all i got.

They do knock quite a bit off items at the nec though, so say an AGV helmet was £100 in a shop it may be as little as £60 there.

Riding an rs50 in full leathers does not make you look a prat. Rolling Eyes

Absolutely agree with you marc! I ride a RS125 with full leathers. The only prats are the ones belting about in track suits and trainers!

The only prat is the person who doesn't buy leathers in my opinion. You'll only appreciate leathers when you take a slide down a road without them Rolling Eyes Smile

i anit on 2 wheels yet but hope to be in the nearish future, im only going to be on a nsr125 (i hope) but still aiming for full leathers proberly from hein gericke, they seem good and dont cost the earth. i will get the piss taken out me by peeps at college if im still there by time im on the bike and family but you shouldnt really care about that when you make contact with the the road you will be thankfull that you can more than likly get up and just need a change of pants rather than a stay in hospital for a few months while they patch you up.

you can also do a power ranger pose for a laugh and post it up here!

Quite a bit of the stuff on these stalls can be factory seconds so check the seams and make sure all the zips and poppers work before you buy.

Try for a type-A, ACU Gold lid if you can find one (this will be on stickers on the back of the helmet). Above all else, make sure it is a good fit...a 30 quid helmet that fits is better than a 300 quid one that doesn't

I wouldn't be wearing full leathers in winter anyway, too fecking cold. Textile stuff is fine, especially on a 50, probably better since the armour is generally more extensive. You will definatley not come off at a high enough speed to wear through the fabric (I came off at 70 in a textile jacket and it is just lightly scuffed, I still wear it). It is also important that these things are a good fit, especially at the cheaper end of the market. Find one that feels comfortable in your riding position and has armour that sits securely over the places it is supposed to.

You might even be able to get some cheap textile trousers, if so, try to get ones with a zip accross the back to join them to the jacket.

There is no such thing as waterproof gloves for less than 60 quid so just go for warm, make sure the liner doesn't pull out with your fingers or it will be impossible to put them on with wet hands. Grip something handlebar shaped with them on and make sure they don't ruck up under your palm. Look for seams that are double stitched, secure and kept to a minimum. The wrist fastening is improtant, you shouldn't be able to pull your gloves off when they are done up.

Buy the helmet first then the jacket so you can make sure the collar doesn't interfere with your head movement, then get your gloves and make sure they fit with the cuffs of your jacket.

I would go with leather army issue assult boots, they are comfy to wear, waterproof if kept polished, sturdy enough to protect you in all but the most severe of high speed crashes and you can walk about in them when you are not riding the bike without squeaking and walking like you have shit yourself.

I'm heading up to Telford (nr Coventry) late November to the Dirt Bike Expo to see some of the new machinery, perv at the scantily clad women and to pick up some off road gear for the winter..

Not sure if I want to go to NEC or not.. Confused There's a lot of bits I need and I keep meaning to actually go to the NEC but I don't know yet.. will only end up spending too much on stuff I don't need then realise I can't get it home Laughing

Anyone else going?

Put it this way, what would u rather have?

1) leathers wich you can use when your 17 when moving to a bigger bike and possibly further.

2) a brand new skin graft when u fall of ?

You'd look more of a fool lieing in the middle of the road with gravel rash.
wear leathers, this was the mistake i made.
My legs are a mess now, because i was only wearing a armored jacket and jeans because i was " just popping to the shops"

safe riding, Steve

When your jeans burn through to your skin? Or are you buying textile trousers too?

Not in here about who have a Cagiva Mito, you've started a thread about that so if people do they'll answer in that thread, this thread is about what bike gear to get.
