Wondering if anyone here (i suspect one or two of you have) has fitted rental bars?

The bars i have are stock, and allthough i was planing on rifleing through the local breakers ive decided on some posh ones with a strengthening bar (for all the rubbish i seem to keep putting on the bars Razz )

I need to mesure the ones that are on but... what do you reckon to upgradeing bars? i want them to have a raise of arround 2/3inches more, i'm haveing to lean too much and it is makeing rides less comfortable than they could be :/ (droping them back dosent help Sad )

Without being a bit extreme, which would be a good choice? anything i should consider/avoid? the rideing position is quite upright, which is fine with me...

these are how they look now (not mine, they are on the bike Razz) anyways any advice would be much appreciated Wink

--------------

What do you all think to the rideing position of your bike?

i think of mine as almost dual sporty, but was it not for the slight reach on the bars it would be even better on distances, it not terrible as it is... also suppriseingly fun to lob arround corners when your in the mood....

I know allot of sports bike riders lurk here, how do you rate yours?

Best ones I have are a set of early 70's renthal desert bars on my T500 and they are the mutts nuts. 36" wide about a 4" rise and just a slight 10-15 degree kick back towards you. Comfiest bars I have ever had, you reach your hands out and the palm just hits the bar square on with no twisting, perfectly neutral positioning.

I would get ones with about the same rise as yours but with a lot less of a kick-back towards your hands (straighter in appearance), you should then comfortably be able to pull them closer towards you without feeling like you are holding onto a wheelbarrow.

I got some off a 50cc dirtbike one time too, they looked just like BMX handlebars, very comfy too. You could do silly things with the handling and get away with it.

Laughing madness! allthough if (and i mean really if) i got my c90 project going i'd be looking for that sort of bar for it Razz great stuff....

Ive just mesured the rise at 7cm (from the lowest contact of the bar to the top) so thats what 3"? does that sound right? the rake (i think thats what its called, the angle at which its bending in towards you) is not as mean as it looks on the picture.. which is good...

its hard to get a feel for how much higher it could do with being while your in the garrage holding you and the bike up with one leg and geting into a rideingish position with the other... hmmm

I'll have a go tomorrow... the only problem i can see is the brake hoses, i think i will be investing in much needed braided ones (these are probably the original ones and were never amazeing anyways!) but the higher bars would also mean the faring ive just aquired will need new brackets "fashoning" its never straight forward is it?! i can see why people end up spending stupid money doing simple mods Sad

Nee matter, it will be worth it in the end...

Go to the breakers and try a few in. You only have to remove four bolts to undo the bars, you can sit a variety of different ones in the recess of the clamp whilst you are sat on the bike 'till you find the ones you want.
