hi all
i've been on my gs125 for a while, and my rear tyre is starting to look a little thin on the centre after just 4000 miles . is this normal and does anyone know how much replacement tyres (front and rear) will cost?
cheers ____________________ Now own a Fireblade!! Speed Limits? Bah! |

Depends on the tyre, the original ones for my supermoto lasted about 1500 miles (inclusive of running in!), my jawa has done over 10k on its current set of tyres. Avon safety mileage will do well over 35k miles but you fall off at every corner.
I am afraid it is a case of more grip=shorter tyre life.
Folks always used to put Pirelli MT65s on wee bikes like the GS which is a good balance of sporty gripyness and longevity. There are doubtless stickier ones available.
You would be looking at about £25 +p&p if you got a pirelli MT65 rear mail order, perhaps a little more from a local spot...but they usually fit and balance them for free if you take in a loose wheel. A front would be less still. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
