my exhaust is loud, which means it is derestricted which is no bad thing, although i fear that i may not be able to pass an mot with it, the exhaust has absolutly no baffles in it, is there a way i can shut it up, just for the mot?

Hi

Check that it really has no holes. Think they tended to weld a cone into the exhaust on the 50s to restrict them, so people cut them open to remove it.

Other than the restrictive cone there should be no baffles in the exhaust except in the silencer and that is pretty much straight through. Neighbours RS50 was embarressingly loud but still standard. A new silender improved things greatly.

All the best

keith

is the exhaust meant to have a baffle pipe in, or is it a straight through type,
if its straight through (perforated tube surrounded by loft insulation)
take it to bits,
clean the holes out a bit (usually quicker to smack it on the floor)
nick a bit of rockwool from your loft insulation to replace the solid lump of oil that'll be trying to absorb the sound,
put back together and off you go.
