Clocks - Literally

I have a spare glass... "whole"... in my mopeds face. I can only assume that they ran out of stuff to put in it.

Anyway, I was wondering about putting a clock in there. One with hours and minutes. I feel it would be quite handy (as I often forget my watch).

Something I would like to know is would I be able to fit a digital clock up to the bike's battery?

The whole in question has a glass front, and a backing with the Peugeot logo on it. I dont know what the logo is made of, but if its flat (ie no bumps or curves) I could maybe mount a basic clock motor behind it, with hands out the front - and use the logo as the face of the clock.

I dont travel at night, so illumination should not be an issue.

What would you think the best idea was?

Digital battery operated clock.

Make sure that it's waterproof.

Oxford do one designed for motorbikes, but it is about £30. I tend to stick a cheapo digital watch on from the local Poundstretchers.

Do the oxford ones actually go inside the bike, or are they some kind of external thing?

Second one down. Low power usage, bit pricey though.

Only problem is, it doesnt say the size. Bit of a waste of money if oyu fond out its too big/small.

Someone may correct me here, but I those clocks are all 52mm. It seemed to be a standard size for additional dashboard instruments. I got my temp guage from there.

Yeah, the mounting brackets on that page are for 52mm, so I expect the dials are too.

Ive got to go out to sign some papers at Natwest today, but when I have some free time, I'll take the "dashboard" apart and take the logo out to use as a measuring template.

I dont know how hard it is to take apart, but if it relitavely straightforward, I may see about fitting some kind of temporary clock motor and hands through the logo, until I can find a good dial.

Oh, also had a thought - maybe Peugeot makes one for that bike!

Ill give the garage a ring some time and find out.
