According to the application guide in my M&P catalogue, you should be able to get a 150/90 tyre on a 3" rim. But that is the biggest one listed so it might be a bit of a squeeze. They recommend a 130/80 or a 130/90 section.
I don't really understand tyre sizes properly so I am just reading it out from a book. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Hi
A 150/90 is a very high profile tyre. The kind of thing you might find on the back of some cruisers. Stuff like the Mito and RS125 running 150 section rear tyres use a 60 profile (and they use 4" rims). The 90 section tyre would be 45mm higher than the 60 profile tyre, and would be the same height as a 130/105 tyre (should such a thing exist).
All the best
