Hello. Right I have just fitted some oxford heated grips (the wrap round ones) and my mate who hasnt got a job, money ,licence or bike coz hes to lazy to work or even sign on has decided that because I have heated grips Im a wimp!! Well excuse me but since I've had my bike it has only had 2 days where it hasnt been used so as you can imagine I do quite a few miles and I think that if I can still feel my fingers its got to be safer so why does that make me a wimp???????

I use heated grips and mitts, because I get very cold hands.

In my defence I ride all year round and see no reason to be uncomfortable.

Would your mate think you a wimp because you wear waterproof gear?

Then again, I'm getting old! Laughing

Heated grips are not wimpish at all.
One warning though, Make sure those grips are on tight, 3 years down the line and i still have the scars so I know whats its like when they come loose.

Riding into work today, I froze my ass off (I usually use the car). At that time I would of given my left nad for heated grips, neck tube and decent trousers.

I swear by my heated grips from about the start of November to late Feb (only on the ZZR obviously), as leaving home at 6am for a 45 mile ride to work in the deep winter can be a good way to get cold fingers - heated grips means I keep feeling for at least 20 miles!

Baaah you wimp!

I ride naked in the snow and ice during the winter, i have even taken the screen off of my bike just to prove my machoness.

Just kidding, no it doesn't make you a wimp. Makes you a rider with warm hands nothing wrong with that!

You might be a wimp, but you are a wimp with warm hands Very Happy

Heated grips are brill, especially if you have a fairing or a set of moto-X hand guards fitted.

If like me you have carpal tunnel problems that causes your hands to go numb at the best of times any little helps.

In winter rider comfort is the most important thing when it comes to riding.

How effective are heated grips? My gloves are very thick and If I put my hand on the exhaust I can't even feel the heat.

So i take it its worth taking them off and buying the grips instead of the wrap round ones

I just paid £65 for a set of AlpineStar Gortex winter gloves! Expensive but hopefully they will do the trick, I don't think I'd ever bother with heated grips, part of the fun of riding is putting up with the conditions Very Happy Thumbs Up
