Mot states you don’t need indicators, its legal, you just gotta use yer arm if you want.
Try these

I got the mini indicators and they look pretty trick (compared to the clunky stock ones!). But you also need to upgrade the flasher unit as the stock indicators are rated at a lower power consumption.

Mini indicators are ok and fairly cheap. If you take this route then I would suggest you pop along to Halfords and pick up some bulbs which fit into the mini's but are same wattage etc as the originals.

A far cheaper and easier option than swapping out the relay.

You don't need to change the flasher unit, the bulbs supplied with the mini indicators are 23w I think, change them all for 10w and it will be fine.

I got an ermax undertray for my bike it come with some LED triangular shaped indicators but to my dissapointment they were far too dim and I am looking at changing them as soon as possible now because I have been swayed away from led indicators for being too dim I love the ultra bright LED brake lights though it is just these tacky indicators that are always trying to get me killed Shocked and also the indicators now flash at twice the normal speed like when you have a blown bulb I think it is because the LED's are an open circuit not like the closed circuit incandescent bulbs

Acumen do a relay specifically for LED indicators to cure the fast flashing and brightness.

MOT regulations

Mini flashers will get it through the MOT but they blow bulbs at a high rate and the build quality is astonishingly poor. They rust like hell.

LED's would seem to be a good idea as they are 'lifetime' but as has been mentioned, they draw a very low current (which is good, wont flatten the battery) which isn't enough to make your flasher relay work properly.

Hi guys,
Getting my bike back today and I'm looking at replacing the indicators myself. Couple of extra questions....

What wattage of bulb does the NSR take?

How hard is it to swap the relay if I decided to use the LED options?

What is the difference in size between long and short stemed indicators? I am unsure which ones to get incase they look stupid!

Cheers
Craig

Not sure about the actual wattage of the standard bulbs, but the relay is easy to change. Take off the seat, and near the back of the right brake light is a small black box hooked onto the frame. This is the relay. Simply pull out and replace.

If you mix and match long and short stemmed indicators, yes they do look pants (the guy I ordered the replacement off forgot to check and got the short stemmed, so I had a 'lopsided bike' Evil or Very Mad )

Short stemmed should just sit a few cm from the fairing. The long stemmed protrude a further 2 inches.

Remember, long stems may be required to make them show past your number plate.

Short ones at the front should be ok Thumbs Up
