Something fell off...

The battery cover fell off my bike today at about 65mph. I heard a metallic crash as I was going flat out down the A130.

My first thought was for my tires thinking I'd run over a can or something similar. Quick glance in my mirrors, saw nothing, thought nothing more of it, carried on.

Got to my destination, wondered why I could see my battery..

long story short, I phoned my dad and he actually found it on the central reservation. Now it's firmly cable tied back on my bike albeit with a few extra scratches...

extend that to italian bikes...

In the murky past i was looking in a gillera/piagio showroom, wandering arround proding the bikes (as you do) was fondleing a dnas rear plastics and... oops, falls off... in the showroom, no miles on the clok and large piece of plastic falls right off.. worrying...

Not actually had anything fall off as of yet, watch out for odies trike though, it leaks horns Shocked

Hmmmm, hardly surprising though, that amount of noise and vibration is bound to loosen things. I rode behind him for about 3 miles, and as a result I had to have 3 fillings replaced. Laughing Laughing Laughing

The oracle AKA my father told me to keep a few cable ties in the top box (yes I have a top-box).

I'm so glad I do, I managed to bodge the cover back on.

I'm not suprised, have you seen the shed odie tows with that thing!?

My bike only shed it's exhaust mounting nuts last week... Rolling Eyes one rear indicator was also very loose, and I lost the nuts and bolts holding the pillion floorboards on in the first week I had it. Not to mention mirrors loosening themselves, the clutch lever screw, the rev counter needle and the headlamp. It is only Chinese after all, and I was being lazy and riding hundreds of miles on it in a couple of weeks, but still, it's only less than a year old...

Had the temperature guage on my '03 Focus lose it's ability to reset and it got stuck on the overheated position, keeping the radiator fan running regadless of whether it was needed or not. Got that fixed under warranty after some haggling. Also just got my Gixxer back from the shop after having the cam chain adjuster replaced. Didn't fix the problem. Now my technician's going out of town for the week. Brilliant. Evil or Very Mad

I've lost a mirror... about 20 mins before my test, and 20 mins away from the test center (Instructor: ok, forget everything I told you about speed limits, we need to get to the school's garage and then to the test center pronto!).

Also lost my 'L' plate... just saw this white thing zoom past me... thought nothing of it till I got the bike out the next morning!

Erm. Yes my front L plate 'fell off' when I was learning too. Sometimes the rear L 'fell off' just before charity runs and stuff like that. Odd that. Confused

Yeah it could be!

I ripped the gear lever out of my old Mk2 Escort once and had to drive home changing gear with a large screwdriver...that was fun Rolling Eyes

I was on a funeral run once - for my best mate - who had owned a Vincent (old old old bike), and all his Vincent Owners Club mates were there as well on their Vincents. On the way, someone's whole exhaust fell off in the middle of a roundabout Smile

Much merriment!

It was the best funeral I ever went to Smile Even if it was the only one I never really wanted to be going to.
