Being on my dodgy MZ going for a bit of a rideout with a fellow forum member, my bike decided to stop, as it does every so often, something to do with it being 10 years old and being thrashed by a 17 year old .
Anywho, it cut off at the end of an A road where it met a roundabout, I managed to lug it up onto the central reservation where I had a quick look, then a police car pulled up, asked if I was ok, then he stopped the traffic while I lugged it across the road, where I bump started it down a subway and all was good after that...
After my first breakdown ( a loose fuse ) 2 police cars went past and didn't bat an eyelid.
After that it was a great rideout.

that's nice that the police help with the traffic flow. and i know what it's like to ride old bikes.
i own a Honda CB400, and a Honda CB650 grey import, both not in perfect condition (seen as i wrote the 400 of this month) and both are older then the 1990's)
i was riding my CB400 to work, got to work fine. finished work, went to start my bike and ....tick.... (not a turnover tick just a tick from solenoid i think), so i go to push start my bike (this is a really heavy bike). i finally get it started, and i ride home, fine... get home, the thing then starts on the electric start . Another time, i started my bike, thought (hm... sounds a bit odd), drove home anyway. got home, tried to start my bike again, and i got no electrics.
so i took the panels off n played around, n took the battery out. the negative lead had shorted out on the frame(dunno how) and basically melted the negative terminal, bought another battery, it's been fine.
with my CB650, last friday, i broke the throttle cable when starting it (had to push it 4-5 miles home .
i had an old Yamaha SR125... this was amusing to start... 1) turn petrol on... 2) press start (use choke etc.) if doesn't start goto step 3. 3) remove spark plug and turn over. then insert plug back in and start.....
i never fixed that problem, before i sold it... to my best mate
now i'm looking for a newer bike. lol ____________________ FS1E -> SR125 -> CB400N -> CB650 -> FZR600 Genises -> VFR400 NC21 -> CBR900RR Fireblade -> Renault Clio 1.4 |

man, that sucks. If you need a spare take a look at www.burwin.co.uk they're in london and do a good mail order service.
I've found the best way to wheely my MZ is go along at walking pace in first, and just crack the throttle open, no clutch needed.
