Hi bought my bike brand new and had the first service the next service they said was 4000 miles is this correct seems a lot to me

4000 miles would be about right for most bikes though Smile

Yes 4000 miles of not being touched service wise is alot. however they will carry out a full service checking or replacing components you would not normally check or replace.
You should just ride the bike for 4000 miles and expect the service to cover everything.
You will need to keep an eye on things yourself making sure you check oil and coolent levels, top them up or replace them when neccicary, charge your battery if the bike is left for a long time without use etc etc.

Yeah 4000 miles is a fair bit, but you can't expect them to do everything for you. If you take care of the bike then you shouldn't have any problems over 4000 miles.
