When you place decals on fairings do they need to be laquered over?
I have some clear laquer that came with a bottle of touch up paint, would that be suitable?

I have a two tone paint job on my tank, green for the base, purple for 2nd tone over the base
I have a scuff on the purple part of the tank, most of it looks like it will T-cut out but one bit (half a 5p in size) has went down to the green base coat. How should I go about sorting this? Just use the touch up bottle anyway or sand it down first?

How long should you leave a coat of touch up paint on for before adding another coat?

Kawasaki don't use *laquer*.... & neither has anyone else used it in the past 15 to 20 years or so....

Hit the mark on the tank with 1500 (wet) & see where that gets ya.....

The chips in the engine cover will slowly dull over time as it oxidises and gets mucky.

DOn't laquer over the stickers

And as for your scratch... Rubbing compound (more abrasive than t-cut) will take more of that scratch out than T-cut would. However depending how perfect you want your tank to look will depend on how you fix the scratch.. ie wet and dry and spray or just touch up with a brush etc.

Would 1500 wet & dry do it then? Do you keep rubbing until you get a neat patch thats down to the tank or just until it's smooth?

right before we go anywhere i am a panel beater/ paint sprayer by trade so take my advice or dont, it's up to you.

that paint looks metallic/ pearlescent, if it is then it has at least 3 coats of lacquer over it. now if you are good with fineline tape then you can mask out the green on the tank and just respray the purple part if not it looks like a full tanks paint. the first thing to try though is a polish called g3, thats made by farrecla and is what the professionals use for refinishing new or tarnished paint. if the g3 gets it out then a good coat of wax after that. looking though you have gone through to the basecoat under the purple so a repair is needed. do not try to cross fade that paint, you will not do it and it will look worse. if you need anymore info/help then email me thru my profile and i'll try to help you out.
