Interested in starting racing in 2005?

You now need to do a race school in addition to a multiple choice theory test.

This day incorporates what classifies as a race school: they don't actually teach riding techniques though. It also has the theory test which would normally cost £50 and be held at the ACU offices in rugby.

From last year, this is how the day was run:
There are groups, with the day split into hours with each group rotating around three twenty minute sessions in each hour.
Per hour there will be a track sessions, a bemsee class room session and a comercial led class room session.
The day included a scrutineering session (you shouldn't fail unless it's really bad, but they will point out stuff that will fail in a real race scroot session). There was also a race grid start, which was fun as well as lots of other general usefull advice.

How much is it all?

And what does a ACU licence consist of, is there only one type? how long do you keep it for, does it expire etc? is it only good for racing?

£125 quid for the day.

£30 x 2 for memberships.

You have to do at least 3 races in a year to keep it active, otherwise it expires after a year.

It can also be used for ACU trackdays etc, though these tend to be faster (definetly faster than the day).

Can't you just do it on the bandit if you don't have a track bike by then? Confused

Don't you have to have a race prepared bike though? or at least a semi-prepared race bikes i.e. lock wired etc.

Would be up for it but can't see the point as I'm only looking at trackdays for 2005 learning my lines and trying to get my lap times down. More than likely be doing it 2006 though!

They would prefer it to be lock wired, but won't stop you going out if it's not. However they said similar at that Snetterton 'pace day'.

I was asked to cable tie up my side stand though, so bring a padock stand on just use a wall Smile.
