Just pulled into my local petrol station tonight and noticed that they were selling the red little poppies that you attatch to your jacket or shirt as a mark of respect, obviously i thought that would be a bit unpracticle when riding so i looked to the side and noticed one of the "Bumper" poppies designed for cars, i gave my 3quid donation and took a poppie with a very large cable tie.
I used the cable tie to attatch the poppy around the steering column and bars, so that the poppy was placed between the clocks and my ignition barrel, and so it was clearly visible to others but at the same time cleverly covered and shielded by my fairing wind shield. i was just wondering if anyone else was going to, or has done, this aswell as a mark of respect...?
wat do you guys think?

Not got a car, but I got my poppy as soon as they started selling them. It's a charity I shall always support without question. What our grandparents did was something really special, and I don't think many people in this country even appreciate what those old people did, let alone understand what it must have been like to do it. The elder generation in this country get a really bum deal in terms of respect from people.

Visit a nursing/ care home for the elderly and you'll see what I mean. I know a lot of people get senile dementia and degenerative diseases when they get old, but there's not really a lot of need to treat them like retards. Before my grandad died there wasn't a lot really wrong with him other than being 89 and having had a few strokes and knackered hips. Other than perhaps a little senility and depression, he was perfectly all together. The staff (whilst entirely good natured and intending) still treated him like a simpleton though. It was a mark of his patience and of the way his generation were brought up that he didn't just tell them where to go.

I was going to lead onto the smacking issue and bringing up children, but I think this thread deserves not to be diluted with other issues.

As soon as I see a collecting point for money for poppies I will buy one, I have bought one every year since I can remember, this charity is so important, without those soldiers the country we live in could of been very different.

I agree. Soon as I see them being sold around the towm I get a few (I always lose one or two) I never buy them from school tohugh, normally the people selling them keep whatever money you put in.
If anyone is interested, my school does a rembrance parade and next weekend with a march through the village afterwards. If anyone is interested pm me. (Not that I expect anyone to be)
Pete.

In the past I'm sure you could get one to fit inside the windscrren of cars.
The black centre was a suction cup.
Don't know where to get these but maybe an idea for putting inside a screen. Thumbs Up
