Im glad to say that I'm the proud owner of a cheapy half-faired minimoto, which I love to bits. However, the last few times if gone for a mini (acknoledge the pun) ride, the bike has been dripping petrol. It only happens when the petrol is turned fully on, but seems to stop once im picking up speed. I've tryed turning the petrol off, running the engine until it cuts out and then turning it on again. This stops the dripping once the fuel is turned on again for about 2 minutes or so.

Oh yea, forgot to add: The petrol is coming from the small bit of hose under the engine. I assumed that it belonged to the air filter, but now i'm not so sure.

Please help me fix little Jimmy! He needs you Smile

Cheers guys!

By the hose under the engine, do you mean the overflow for the carb float bowl? It's possible there's a bit of crap in interfering with the float needle. It can't be a lot or it would be pissing out. A short term fix is often to knock the carb body lightly with a rubber hammer to dislodge it. Eventually, you'll have to take the carb to pieces and clean it out.

What mchaggis said - it sounds like it's coming from the float bowl overflow, and when you're running the engine is sucking it through quick enough so's it doesn't overfill.

A light tap on the float bowl, and if that doesn't fix it then take the bowl off, clean it out and clean and inspect the float needle. Pay attention to which way up it fits Wink

So, did anyone fix this problem in the end? Little Jimmy is dripping all over the shop now - and I pulled a wheely, fell off and hurt my knee Sad.

Or alternativly, any ideas? I'm really not sure about cleaning the carb... I've never even seen the inside of a carb before. Smile

What type of minimoto is it, and you'd be best off asking on www.minimotoclub.com/vb/ about it.

And with the wheelie best advice is not to try doing wheelies on them as it is closely followed by falling off the back. Razz

I found that my petrol leak was coming from the actual fuel tap. The joint from the tap to the tank was leaking as as such fuel was dripping out and running down pipes, engine etc etc etc.
