Hi there,

I'm a young teenager, aged thirteen, looking for a decent scrambler/dirt-bike, I need one that isn't to big or powerful, basically one suited to my age, and not too expensive. Any advice on a bike/where to buy one near Aberdeen/help with the bike if I get it will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

I'd have a look in www.adtrader.co.uk .

Have a search for 'field bike'; I don't know if you'd fit in a proper motocross bike (cr125,kx125, etc) and these will probably be a bit too agressive.

You could try a road 125, but they are often still quite high (dt125, kmx125, etc).

To start chap, I'd try looking for 50cc bikes. They really don't /go/ much, but are good for learning and you can stil have a lot of fun on them. Some models are DT50, MX50 and TS50.

If I were to buy one locally, say from a car/motorbike dealer, any ideas on prices?

A lot more than you should be paying.

They will sell road bikes, for road use which are over priced and probably in a poor state for the price you're paying.

You could easily be looking at paying £1k more... for what to you will be basically the same bike.

A cheap 50 should start from around £250 for a working, but tatty example.

Don't know, have a look in the Scotland Area part of the forum, as for the bike i'd say get a 50, then move up to a 125 when you can handle it.

Assuming it is fairly similar to England, you're not allowed on the public roads on it and you're only allowed on private land with the land owners permission or on green lanes. Not bridleways or footpaths.
