LED Brake and tail light recommendations

Hi peeps,

I found this site for LED brake/side lights (bayonet style).

Before I part with my hard earned cash, I don't suppose anyone knows of anywhere where they are cheaper?

Hi

Watch out as they are almost certainly not technically legal. With the FZR I think the tail light also illuminates the numberplate so this might be quite obvious (the LEDs are quite directional).

Could be wrong, but I think LED tail lights are illegal in any form. I believe there is a C&R regulation which states that the front and rear position lamps must use filament bulbs. Apparently dating back to before the war when they were trying to stop people using acetylene lamps.

Interesting, although there are several cars and 4x4s that have LED clusters in the rear lights.

In another thread on here I've just pointed out the field type alternator on my FZR does not produce any real umph (21amps) till the revs hit 5000rpm. So I'm pretty keen on lowering the electrical draw as I mostly use my bike for pleasure (mostly short runs).

I have (had) an e-marked LED tail light, though it has to be used in conjunction with a seperate plate ilmuniator.
The number plate illuminator can't be red, so those wouldn't classify for that purpose anyway.

I was going to just wire in another white LED or two for that purpose.

Don't the SV1000 bikes use LED tail lights??
Maybe if you're feeling brave you could try bending one down a bit to light the plate...
