hey guys, i finally got my kawasaki er5. and i must say it is a nice step up from a 125cc 2 stroke scooter. its restricted to 33bhp though (im only 18)

Has anyone else got or had a restricted er5? if so, how much better was it when deresitricted? coz its not al that fast and i was kinda hoping its mainly becuas of the restrictor

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Wotcha andy, I've got an er5 myself..

I'm not restricting mine unless I can get the restrictors for free from someone(couldnt care less about getting a certificate, I'd fit it myself)

I've not taken it down below 6000rpm, but it pulls pretty hard from 3k.....Ask acidburnz, he's got a er5 as well and has taken it up a little higher up the rev range than I have Very Happy

Yours not kasarich's son are you?

Full power the ER-5 is 50bhp so it will be 70% more powerful if derestricted, so it could pull through the revs a fair bit quicker.

Hello!

As said, I do also have an ER-5. Never riden a restricted version, so can't comment on how it pulls\accelerates. I have however riden along with someone on a restricted one - mine left it for dead.

Get rid of the restricters - the power increase might not be that much on paper - but makes a huge difference on the road Thumbs Up

Oh, and I've got a full Remus System on mine Twisted Evil

I've ridden my Sons which currently does not have the restrictors in, (but it will when he gets on it) and unrestricted, it seems to be a bit flat at around 5 - 6,000rpm, below that it will pull from tickover two up no problem, and above the flat spot it goes quite nice, with most of the power between 8 - 10,000rpm, at these revs at the legal limit it has plenty of pull, and will happily pull well beyong the legal limit two up........or so I'm told Twisted Evil

kasandrich - I found that flat spot annoying too - hence (part of) the reason for the full remus system. Flat spot gone - pulls cleanly through all revs now - sounds bloody loud too! Twisted Evil (especially changing up through 7k rpm!!!)

I'm working on buying myself a new exhaust mark...just got to start up 4 contracts for mobiles, flog the phones on eBay and hopefully make a £160+ profit....hopefully. Thats if I can be bothered opening a new account to do all of that!

Arrow have just made an exhaust for the er5, released this month I think.

You won't regret it! Makes a big difference to the bike, I feel anyway.

I used to change gear around 5k and then just accelerate in 6th, but now it just pulls all the way in every gear.

You will probably need a full system to get the full effect I would imagine Confused

I wonder if the Remus ER-5 system'll fit the GPZ Thinking.

I owned a restricted ER-5 for 3 months in 2001, it pulled ok, but ran out of breath at about 7000RPM.
Its pulled ok though, no flats spots that I can remember. Never ridden one unrestricted though.

Whilst there are plenty of systems for the ER-5 there, I can't see anything for the GPZ. It would look to me as if an ER5 system isn't designed to go on a GPZ, though bodging might work?

A Motad Nexxus would probably be your best bet for the GPZ.

If it helps I got my system from Apex Leisure.

You could always ask them if it'll fit the GPZ. Can't see why it shouldn't?

I've been considering getting an ER5 as a hack, alas, I've got no money at the moment so it will have to wait a while. I rode one on my DAS, and loved it. Not as smooth as my fazer, but good enough for commuting.
