I had to remove the fairing and tank from my wifes nsr125r 1991 import and I've noticed it has a power valve motor linked up to the throttle cable via black box. Also the throttle valve opens fully in the carb.
How can we tell if the power valve is working properly? And How fast should we get out of it?
When I had a tzr 125 in 1988 I opened my powervalve fully and I could feel the power increase from about 7,000 rpm.

I haven't got my cbt yet so I have to rely on the missus who doesn't like speed Rolling Eyes

It should be very similar to to TZR, as you say the power should pick up at about 7000 or 8000 revs with a top speed of at least 90. There may be restrictions in the exhaust if the powervalve is functioning properly.
