hi I went out earlyer and as normal before I got on the bike (97 bandit 6) I checked the oil and it was fine so I hopped on then rememberd I had ordered some iridium plugs for her (I know its only a bandit but theres only 80p difference each plug and the iridium last longer) so off I set to the shop and sure enough walked through the door and got 4 new iridium plugs handed to me Laughing me being an impatiant so and so went out side got me tool kit and fitted them outside the shop when I noticed my sight glass for the oil had gone white on the inside Question so I think to myself BUGGER HEAD GASKET then I remember its oil cooled. so have I got water in my oil some how or is it just condensation or something???? CHEERS IN ADVANCE for reading yet another pointless thread by me Mr. Green

this time of year could just be condensation.
is anything visible on the dipstick
check for oil deposits floating in coolant header tank.

Ultimately a chemical cylinder block test will tell..

But I would put my money on condensation

afterthought

are all the engine breathers in good nick and not blocked.

Question

Hehe it won't have a dipstick, or a header tank... If it's oil cooled and has a viewing window.

My bike instructor had this problem on his Bandito. Damn I can't remember what he said.

Well I'd be inclined to go out for a bloody good razz, try and burn some off that condensation (if it is)...

When was the last time you used it, prior to today?

Wait unless everyone posts before going out and giving it a thrash. Twisted Evil

Well a more technical way of saying take it for a thrash:

Take it for a good 20 miles run to get the oil and engine all good and warm. It's just be condensation, quite common at this time of year and nothing to worry about.

aye - I thought this happens when the bike is only used for really short journeys and isn't given a chance to warm up. I could be wrong though

Take the bike for a warm up ride then change the oil and clean the clutch cover out. Your bike is oil-cooled, do you really think driving around with emulsified oil is a good idea? It's a great way to destroy main bearings.
