Simple really, i think there "could" be a slight leak somewhere allong the line, i remember reading somewhere spraying EZ start arround the area will raise the revs at the point of the leak, i've also read that useing WD-40 will help getting a cx going after a layup.. would this mean its doing the same thing?
I'm guessing it will be ok but i'd rather have comfirmation from one of you fine people here ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

If there is an air leak in the carb rubbers (or pretty much anywhere on the inlet side that causes the engine to draw air) and you spray something flammable over it, the engine will rev up from tickover. I am not sure if this is because it is sucking the flammable stuff in through the leak and running the engine on it or just the liquid sealing up the leak temporarily. Either way, it works. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Great stuff it will at least help me work out whats going on with my bike (it seems to have lost power, i don't think its my imagination...) one of the several things to check i think...
On a slightly unrelated note, when its being given a bit of stick, where you would normaly get the engine being laboured sort of sound it sounds like its backing off, i dont think its clutch slip as i have had that before, it sounds like it not quite keeping up, then gets back up to speed...
Could this be lax timeing from loose cam chain? or valve clearances? i think my spark plugs have done a few miles too... hmmm
Would the engine tick over propperly with a hole somewhere in the fuel/air inlet?
Well at least i'm getting allot of spannering experiance ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |
