Does a 1989 GSX600F have a CDI, if so what other CDI units can be used on them ?

Teck question for a mate of mine who's bike has just conked out this afternoon

And anyone got one for sale ?

Yes it will have a CDI unit, and you will pretty much have to use one from a GSX600.

If they fit or he can rewire you can use the following but the curves will be different.

GSF600 bandit (only if no TPS is fitted on the GSF)

GSXR600 US 93 model

GSXR750 85-91 (may raise rev limit and cause bang. You need to check the stroke and match to the CDI)

GSXR1100 86-92 (will lower rev limit)

Vance and Hines Power pack ignition. These crop up on Ebay every now and then but are notorious for breaking.

The best thing to do is fit an adjustable Dyna-2000 ignition.
