I almost dumped my bike on it's side the other day when I was coming to a set of red traffic lights nice and slow and and as I went to put my left foot down I realised my shoelaces where caught up on the peg I only just managed to rip the laces apart in a life or death situation ( for my fairing ) it caught up with me how bad it could have been, a 180kg bike plus my weight pushing it to the ground and landing on my leg I will NEVER EVER wear laced up shoes again Hand

I've done a similar thing, but got my laces caught in my chain when pushing the bike around whilst sat on it. Nearly dropped it then had to push bike backwards to untangle myself!

Done that aswell. Laces got wound up around the output shaft/ front sprocket. Went to stop and put my leg down. Bike lent over as it always does, but my foot wouldn't move at all!

Dumped the clutch and pulled away very quickly and stopped using the other foot.

Not a fun experience.

I never wear laced footwear when riding, but when I was at the NEC, I almost ended up arse over tit when my shoelace got caught in the footpeg of the R1 I was sat upon. I'd got half way off before I realised my left foot was stuck, but I hopped about until it untangled itself, no doubt looking extremely foolish.

Phew - just bought a pair of XPDs at NEC, prior to that had been riding only in sneakers. BTW, XPDs for £99 - good deal?
