I've been bitten by the curse. I can't remember anything about the accident itself except for what I've been told and worked out on my own.

Basically, coming up to a junction, slowed down, looked to seeif there was anything, managed to lose the clutch, which threw me forwards in front of a mini coming along. There wasn't any damage to the car supposedly, so I think I lost it on my own. The bike went over to the left, I went headfirst over the right. My knee left a nice dent in the tank, but thanks to Heine Gericke knee armour, got nothing but an ache. My head hit the ground first, my helmet cracked and road rashed. I've a lovely bruise on my right temple. and scratches on my forehead from the shattered visor. My right arm went into the ground thumb first, broke my radius at both wrist and elbow end; got a huge purple bruise on my elbow and everthing's swollen. Sad (Can't move my wrist or elbow without significant pain)

Now I'm in a sling, got to go to orthapedics tomorrow to get plaster, no idea how long to get mended, but I've uni resits at the start of Sept. I might have to wait and sit them next year as a part-time student Evil or Very Mad Anyway, nothing really wrong with me other than bruising and scratches to my head, and broken arm in two places... All my gear did it's bit, my helmet's cracked inside in two places, both about 3 inches long. Can't complain about it though, I'd have been in a box otherwise.

photos of damage to come Embarassed

Ouch.

Sounds very painful, glad you had all your gear on.

Hope your bike is OK and you're not too sore.

Sorry to hear about the accident and the injuries, but glad you are still here to tell us about it. Hope the arm doesn't take too long to mend.

Anybody tempted to ride in t-shirt and jeans should be made to read this thread.

Apart from the dent from my knee in the tank, all the other damage to the bike is superficial scuffing and scratches really. left mirror, left footpeg, bit on left side of lights too. Can't complain though, nothing serious so far as I can tell. leccy start wouldn't, and gears wouldn't shfit below 2nd. Kick started, and then the gears worked fine and the leccy start works again. Thanks for the concern anyway Smile

OOOO Shocked .

Sorry about your crash mate! Sounds like it was painful. Glad that you are relavitely unscathed. I say relatively as it could have been alot worse.

Remember a bike is insignificant next to human health. (Yes, even your blinged up gixer thou)...Absolutly insignificant.

Hope you have a speedy recovery! Thumbs Up

Thanks for all the messages. For anyone who may or may not be interested, here's a few pics. If nothing else, a salutory lesson in helmets. Amazing how much damage 20 odd mph will do too. Sad

None of the bike, that damage was almost non-existent in comparison.

those marks on your head from the helmet? :s

time for a better helmet mate, hitting your head will always give you a bad headache, mine was the worst i have ever had in my life, when i crashed, i reckon i smacked mine hard (good excuse for a dodgy memory Razz)

but i dont think a helmet should leave marks like that Confused

Glad to hear that you are ok I nearly killed myself last week. I always hear that there are two kinds of riders ones that have gone down and those that are going down. So in that respect I consider us those that have gone down. Wink

You had the same helmet I had when I crashed on Saturday, although I didn't experience any of the problems you did with it?

You shouldn't have to worry about that. As part of the disability services your university offers, you should be provided with someone to take notes and write your exam papers for you. You will not be made to pay for this and you may also be given extra time for the exams.

Best of luck - no excuse to stop revision now Wink
