ARGH......

My test is next Thursday, I was pressured enough... but what makes it worse is that my Fiance passed his 500 test yesterday !!
Apparently it was 'easy' and no problem Neutral
He keeps saying "You can do it...you'll fly through it,...no probs"...but I know he is just doing the 'positive thinking' thing Wink

Ooooo........I wanted to be first....now I am bricking it Confused
Wonder if positive thought helps ?...... Question Rolling Eyes

All these months of training....and I am still a tad dodgy at u-turns...
I think my nerves will bugger me up....I need to breath....b-r-e-a-t-h-e Sick

The thing is I don't hear of that many people passing first time.....I wasn't expecting HIM to......or me.
I haven't told anyone at work....only spoken about it on here...now...

I SO want a new bike....I am trying not to pile pressure on myself though...pretend I don't care if I pass or not !!!
I may buy some worry beads....

Don't want this to sound patronising, it's not meant to be - but don't get wound up about it.

I didn't nail the U turn until the morning of my test so once that was over on the real thing I really relaxed and just went with the flow.

Best of luck Thumbs Up

For what its worth, I know how you feel. Bike test on Friday.

Note To Self: Be overzealous on the mirrors, the engine braking and the rear brake. Forget everything after test. Thats why God invented Stoppies. Rear brake indeed!

Positive thoughts do very much help..not going to the stage of cockiness but if you think you're going to fail, then chances are you will do.

Its like target fixation, look where you want to go and you will......well, kind of, you get my drift.

I have to say, I'm beyong the stage of cockiness for my test on the 16th, I KNOW I'm going to pass....I feel at home on a bike more than anything else and with the amount of practise I had when I was 18, at 20 it'll be no bother Smile

Good luck is all I can say and REMAIN POSITIVE!!!

Forget about your partner passing his, that doesn't matter at all, just focus on the task at hand and don't let nerves get the better of you.

Get chatting to the instructor before hand, get comfortable before setting off Smile

Sounds daft but, try to enjoy it. Prove to yourself you can ride and not the examiner.

Ride safley for 45 mins or so and that's it. Then you can be a hooligan.

If your taking it on a 500 then use the test as an excuse to a bigger bike for a hour!

It's all in the mind.

Worked for me anyway.

Before my test, I hadn't completed a U-turn for about 2 months - but nailed it, perfect. On an RS aswell.

JodieWodie, the above advice is BANG on the nail. I couldn't convince myself I'd pass as we all know driving is a bit of a lottery and stuff out of your control does and will happen.

However I just looked at it as an excuse for another hour on a big bike (which I REALLY enjoyed riding) and in the end I enjoyed my test!

Best of luck.

Jo....

Mine is early in Jan, and I feel for you. I am sure you have done plently of practise and just imagine you are riding for yourself.

Consider your own safety, and enjoy it!

Just don't wheelie out of the test centre, as although the over drivers/riders might think you look cool, I am sure the instructor isn't following you for the Evil Kenevil test on that day Very Happy

Seriously good luck, and tell us once you have passed !

Doobs.

Ahh, you'll be fine. If you can ride a 125 then you can ride anything else easily (according to the words of my instructor anyway Rolling Eyes ).

I would say good luck, but I'm sure you won't need it Razz

Hi

Don't worry and enjoy it (or try to). Woman I know had her U turns getting worse and worse in practice on the morning of her test, with her final practice resulting in her dropping the bike. Only one she managed perfectly was the one on her test (which is the one that matters).

If you can relax it definatly helps. I made a mess of moving off at one point on my car test and assumed I had failed. Relaxed loads after that and was quite shocked to pass.

Good luck.

Keith

Its called a self fulfilling prophecy, if you believe you are going to fail, you will because you will subconsciously double check yourself all the time. Is quite an interesting psychological theory if you want to look deeper into it (yeah right Very Happy ). Be positive and you will give your self a much better chance Thumbs Up

Hi JodieWodie
I did my test on friday (passed) and up until the morning of the test i had managed about 1 time in 20 to do the u-turn. On the morning of the test i woke from a dream where i mounted the curb on the test. Confused I had an hour on the bike before going to the test centre and managed to do it every time. I am so with you on the worries of it though. But the others are right just go out there enjoy it, relax and everything will fall into place. Do this for you not your boyfriend.

If my experience is anything to go by your instructor will have you doing u-turns on much narrower roads than the one you'll be given on your test, so don't worry about it, it'll be a breeze Smile Thumbs Up
