hey... i have a Gilera DNA 50 which is liquid cooled. I've heard this can be a problem in winter due to extremly cold liquid going around very hots pipes causing expansions and contractions... resulting in serious damage. Is this true? I've also heard that putting tape over the air intake is a good idea to combat this. Is this true, if so, how much tape? Please help!

No.

Cars are liquid cooled, with a very few notable exceptions. You will see cars using roads all year.

Ignore whoever told you not to use a liquid cooled engine in winter.

Whoever told you that is in need of a slap. Rolling Eyes

With the right anti freeze mix + oil you can ride in -40 odd conditions, probably less...

Make sure your bike has sufficient antifreeze/coolant, because if the water freezes and you try to start it you are in trouble... if your unsure take it for a service.

I doubt anyone would be dumb enough to ut just water in.. but then....

have a read of this whle your at it https://auto.howstuffworks.com/cooling-system.htm
