Get some hippo ones like Mcjam's just bought!!! They look so weird, he can't give people the middle finger anymore!!
They are very warm apparently. Not exactly the most fashionable of gloves but depends if warmth is more important to you. |

Ive just brought some Dainese winter gloves, (Guanto Panther's)Gore tex fabric, with moulded in knuckle proctection, and they feel very comfy, and look well made. They were £65 at NEC show. Not tested on bike yet though.
My warmest winter gloves are a pair of Hein Gericke Pantheon gloves, with the two finger design, which are definately the warmest gloves ive used, and they have never leaked. Only downside is that they dont look like they would offer as much protection, as there is no knuckle armour etc, and also it does feel wierd riding a bike with 2 fingers joined together.
Id generally avoid leather type winter gloves, as i think they contant wetting and drying doesnt do them any good. Gore tex is probably the best material to have, but its possibly one of the most expensive too. |

Clover RS3.
You can get them from www.customlids.co.uk
Really really good. They are a summer sports glove but they are also very warm in the winter, and extremely protective. They got a reccommended in the last RiDE summer glove test.
I have them and they rock. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

I'm not sure that there are many gloves other than the two/ no finger variety which are going to work really well. I tried the Akito Storm gloves I got at the NEC, they work pretty well, but we were riding in temperatures of around 3C or so and my fingers still went numb after about half an hour. I noticed it always starts on the webs of the fingers, where the leather and padding is the thinnest.
But, stopping every 3/4 of an hour or so for a chat and a stretch meant that they recovered pretty much before my hands were stiff enough to be any problem. I'd say the most important thing is the ability of the gloves to keep the water and the wind out. Being wet, the rate of heatloss to windchill is scary. Then you can always bodge brush guards, fit heated grips and wear inner gloves.
As for wearing gloves in, just wear them for half an hour or so before you ride in them, flexing the fingers and palm, loosening up the leather and allowing you to get a proper grip. They wear in pretty quickly once you're on the bike imo, as they are generally pretty flexible leather anyway, unlike boots which take a good while. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

If anyone has winter gloves with leather bits and thinks they're really waterproof... they're not. They'll soak through then start to really smell, then get binned and replaced with something decent ____________________ Back on a Blade. Just feels so right. |
