Owch........
Practise is the only way.
Cover your back brake to controll your speed NOT the clutch.
But most of all look where you want to go, If you look at the kerb you will go towards it. So look where you want to be after you have finished your U turn. Try to relax also as if you are tense you will wobble about more.
(you probably know all the above but you will get the hang of it ) ____________________ Andy Sez....

My Mum failed 3 times on her U-Turn, just keep at it, you probably know the advice, but stay calm, try not to worry and keep practicing, good luck.s ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

Just keep doing it, and it'll come. Meanwhile, think how lucky you are, at least it wasn't your bike that you dropped. ____________________ I was only doing what it said on my licence officer....

Yep, and the bit that will really twist your mellon is there will be absolutely no need to ever do one again after your test
A chap here at work touched his foot down while doing his u-turn in the test and passed. I think so long as you demonstrate good control during your test, if the examiner isn't a total pleb he will pass you. |

That's a bummer .
When i was practicing i started of in a car park doing U-turns between 2 points or lines (no curbs), then i moved onto doing them on a large road and then a normal size road. I wasn't very good at them as i was looking at the curb while i was doing them but as soon as i started looking where i wanted to go i could do them faultless every time.
Good luck . ____________________

Passed my DAS summer 2003.
U turns - easy; easy to fall off
Best one I did, was by listening to my instructor..."keep looking round, ignor the kerb, you'll make it"...then I hit the kerb and landed on my arse...he p*ssed himself laughing. This was the morning before my test.
Passed my test first time.
Advice - make sure you have reasonable speed before attempting to turn. My biggest failing was trying to turn without momentum. This makes balancing much harder. Try standing still on a push bike - think about it. Secondly, as you turn, put your weight on the ouside peg.
Good luck. |

Jodie I did *exactly* the same thing when I was learning on a 500. Once you start thinking about it the kerb is like a magnet! When I came off I broke the clutch lever on the bike and we had to abandon it there and I had to ride back to the test centre pillion with my instructor. Now *that* is embarrassing...
As others have said, I think I've maybe done one u-turn since I passed my test, and I'm fairly sure I put my foot down part way through! ____________________ "The problem with the French is they have no word for 'entrepreneur' " George W Bush
