I'm soon to fully kit myself up with helmet and leathers and there is a J&S shop right near me and I was wondering if any of you have had experience buying from them in the past and if they offer good value for money.

Perhaps you know any other good shops in the Portsmouth area or any good websites as it'd be much appriciated.

Thanks

Not heard anything bad about J&S, have been to their shop in Newbury although only went to try lots of different sets of leathers on. Know lots of people who have bought from J&S before and not had problems.

Probably be worth having a look at the nearest [url=https://www.hein-gericke.com/hg-shop/eurobike/eb_frameset.php]Hein Gericke[url] to you.

Yup, I don't think that there's anything to be wary of with J&S. I bought some of their own brand gloves a couple of years back and they lasted really well, and were waterproof and warm despite being pretty cheap.

It's always worth comparing prices with other stores or on the internet if you get the chance though. Nothing more annoying than forking out for something and then seeing it cheaper somewhere else a short while later.

I bought some Sidi boots from the J&S stand at the NEC, reasonably priced so yeah they are quite good.

This J&S in cowplain you're talking about? I've bought tonnes of gear from there and they've been alright. Can't comment on the J&S brand stuff as I haven't got any, although I think my sis has a J&S jacket which seems alright.

Unlike some places that treat 'regulars' well by offering discounts and maybe even being friendly, J&S don't seem to. Plus they apparently don't offer their staff lunchbreaks and generally treat 'em like crap. (Heard first hand from a pissed off soon to be ex-employee Laughing)

Overall verdict is pretty much 'fine'.

I've always found their range to be pathetic, they'll have stuff in your size but only if you want it in white and dayglo orange.

Gericke are much better IMO.

Pretty much all shops will be incredidly friendly if you're spending that amount with them. Razz

I've been to the one in Northwich and it seemed to be quite good, plenty of stuff to look at. The helmets looked a bit tired though

Obviously you don't buy enough, they gave me free bolts for a helemt. Smile

I rate J&S highly, I bought some boots that developed a lump in (which was very unpleasant on the toes) they replaced them no problem. Thumbs Up

Ahem, yes they did, two people don't stay in a shop for an hour and a half unless trying to lots of different things unless they're going to be buying them. I would have thought that if someone spent an hour and a half trying to just different helmets than the sales assistant would get slightly bored.

But whatever, you got good service from them which can only be good. Smile

J&S are pretty cheap when it comes to buying ALL your gear from there, but customer service is basically absent from the store when i was getting my boots - just a buch of nincumpoops chattin at the counter and not bothering to ask for help - sad thing was that there were 3 of them and only one customer in the store - ME - at 4pm! Don't go to J&S watford if you're looking for good customer relations!

Personally, i'd recommend HG - guys know what they're on about and are very helpful - i always go in there for a chat! Some HG stuff is WORTH getting during their final reductions of off-season! Plus, some of their kit is Quality!
