First thing, specs including 0-60 times mean little... just ride the bike and enjoy it . Probably somewhere around 4-5 secs for 0-60, but note that these are usually often exaggerated and usually depends a lot on the rider etc.
A lot have had some tuning work done and loads have been generally modified.
Pillions are ok, but fast pull-aways can lead to very easy wheelies.
The general ride depends on the condition, but you're looking at an old design, so don't expect modern handling.
Tyre choice is limited as they use 18" rims and skinny tyres.
I'm not sure if there was a powervalve with a half fairing.
Here is an excellent resource for rd related stuff. |

The half faired model was the first of the YPVS's was also called the RD350LCII the model i had was an '84 one,i think they were only available for a couple of years before the styling went to the full faired or naked models.
Mine was very reliable but was standard except for a set of allspeed pipes. Great bikes but the handling is a bit iffy by todays standards but great back in the '80's when skinny tyres and bendy frames were the norm
Pillions get a good seat and comfy ride but need to hold on tight when the powervalves open and the front wheel heads skywards
I really liked mine and was gutted when it got written off ____________________ Nothing gets the point across quite like a raised middle digit.

Nice bikes they are in a way reliable but those who call them reliable are normally real fans of them who are used to them. To a newcommer, expecially one used to 4 strokes many of the obvious maintance tasks and checkups will seem like alot of work.
They are great fun bikes, which are fairly easy to find in average condition. Mint ones cost a fortune.
Don't even think about using one for commuting though! |

Yeah, you are looking for the RD350LC2 which was the first one with a powervalve.
There are quite a few ordinary 350LCs about which have had the YPVS motor put in them, this is OK, just make sure they did a good job of the wiring as it can land up a mess if they tried to splice the two looms together.
They accelerate as fast as you could possibly want to (or manage to on the supplied chassis). You NEED a fork brace, most will have one fitted by now.
They are immense fun, front wheel spends most of its time in the air, go like absolute stink. You do need shares in BP to run one though (mine did 25mpg on a good day if I didn't take it into the powerband, I have seen 20 or less). The peak of 2-stroke silliness, buy one while they are still about
I will never go on the pillion of one again, the seat is comfy enough but you spend your whole time nearly falling off the back with your feet up under the riders armpits.
You find yourself muttering such things as "Give me warp-drive now Mr. Sulu", and "Going to lightspeed in Three, two, one" as you snick it down three gears to do a simple overtake. The only bike I have ever ridden that makes the scenery actually blur as you hit the powerband, then it is just a case of trying to change gear quickly enough.
Damnit, you've set me off again now! and the doctor said I was doing so well too

1st of all for all your RD enquiries go to...... www.yamaha-rd.com I'm surprised stinkwheel hasn't suggested this unless there are 2 stinkwheels
Oh, and it's not a fork brace you want it's a steering damper |

Unfortunately the humble LC has got a cult status so costs have kept fairly high ____________________ Nothing gets the point across quite like a raised middle digit.

Remember that he is talking about a powervalve not a normal LC which have two settings, very fast and warp drive. They kick the front wheel up below the powerband then kick it up further when you hit it. I still cover the back brake when I change gear and I had that bike six years ago.
Humble (antonyms according to Rogets Thesaurus): brash, confident, loud, swaggering, unabashed.
EDIT: as to tuning, I can highly recommend the Stan Stevens 375cc big bore coupled with gasflowed powervalve, stage 3 dynojet and micron race system.
Now you are talking ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
