Shocked

That's one funky looking thing. Interesting idea, though I think I'm happier on two wheels, none of this computer controlled balance stuff...

More about it here: https://motorcyclecity.com/Concept/EMBRIO/ and here:https://www.brp.com/en-CA/Media.Center/Whats.New/1/09.07.2004.htm

Hi
Cool idea, but it looks gay and bikes are dodgy enough with 2 wheels let alone 1 Smile.

I wonder what happens when you accelerate as hard as it can and the balance system fails. That will be interesting i think!

Considering the number of things that can go wrong with motorbikes at the moment... mechanical and electrical... it just seems dangerous to have something that could in theory fail keeping you alive.

At least in a bike and car if it loses all power/control of itself it WILL stay upright and controllable.. that thing will just... flop.

A classic example of over-engineering and inappropriate use of technology Thumbs Down

What next, planes with a wing on only one side?

If it aint broke then you're just not trying hard enough. Razz Razz

Looks cool, something different at least. Would get boring as wheelies and stoppies wouldn't be possible. Wonder if it would need a new type of license. Thinking

That's about the best I managed to find. I can't say that it looks like it would be very comfortable though. Confused

Quote:
A Rider-Friendly Vehicle
Riding the Bombardier EMBRIO concept in the real world would be a thrill. With a riding position similar to a motorcycle, the EMBRIO uses a complex series of sensors and gyroscopes to balance one or more human passengers on a single wheel. Technology will be used to harness the laws of physics, with the gyroscopes and sensors, a high-performance braking system, active suspension, night vision and robotic assistance. A digitally encoded learning key will start the engine. To move forward, the rider activates a trigger on the left handlebar. The landing gear retracts when the speed reaches 20 km/h. To turn, the rider leans in the desired direction. The brake is activated by a trigger on the right handlebar. When the speed drops to 20 km/h again, the landing gear redeploys automatically. Even without the landing gear, the EMBRIO would be stable when motionless because of the gyroscope.
