I thought i might share this with you all.
Last night on my way back from meeting friends in west end, i was riding at a normal speed, listening to some music. Stop at the lights waiting for it to change to green, from out of now where a merc e series zoom pass me, F*%k it was fast, so i thought i make my journey home more interesting by taken it out the next set of lights.
Raced up to the next set of lights, look across, he was 50ish bloke, pretty big sort of guy, revving up his engine. As soon as it hit green, clutch off, first gear.....30...45....up to second gear, rev up, "SHIT!!" didnt get it to second gear, got it into "Neutral" instead, look like a prat slowing down when he flew passed me..
Right, that got me going, got in gear race up to the next set of lights. Lights at red, clutch in, 1st gear selected, revving up, looked across thinking the nexts one is mine...... light changed to red and amber, off i went 35....50...second in, speeding up.... by the time i got into 3rd, flew pass me again... F*&k!!
This happen a couple more time, i couldnt belive it, beaten by a f*&king 50ish bloke driving a saloon car... I decide to have a look what type of car he was driving, it turned out to be a E320 AMG thing, f*&k, no way my cbr6 cant out run that from the lights.
So i called it a night by the 5th set of lights, no point trying wasting petrol, then a sleek black sport car pulled up right between the merc and me, a Lamborghini. As soon as i saw what car it was i had a stupid grin on my face, and thought " Have to try beating this"
The driver was up for it, sitting there at the lights, revving his engine. Lights change, flip the clutch away, and gave it all my bike had....which was much, about less than 15 or 20 meters, the Lamborghini rocket pass me, then as usual the mecr...
Looking silly, i left them to it, and rode my whip arse home...but bloody good fun though. |

Should have had the Merc and the Lambo! Is your CBR running okay?
The only cars you'd struggle against are a McLaren F1, a Caterham Superlight R500 and a Koenigsegg which do 0-60 in 3.5 secs or less.
Check out this link for 0-60 times for a 2003 CBR600RR

Maybe you were changing up too early? Still, without something being wrong with your bike, you'd surely be able to beat them? ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Ive whipped one of them mercs in my old car (0-60 in 7.1 ok not a whip but an edge beat ) for christs sake. The guy would have needed about five hundred horses to stand a chance.
as for figures, RiDE magazine quoted the CBR600 FX at....
0-60 3.6 (tested)
0-100 6.8 (tested)
top speed 161 mph (tested)
Not much comparison to 0-60 in 7.7 I know
Doesn't the new maclaren SLS do 0-60 in around 3.9? And thats got over 500 ponies and costs over 100g's.
strange story mate, you sure you didnt start in 4th gear?? |

Hi
Does sounds like you were changing up early. I would expect you to need to get to at least 60 before changing up when going for it, and 600s often need to be revved hard to give anything like their best.
Also revving out in 3rd would probably put you the wrong side of 100mph, and not many people would go for it at that speed in an urban area.
Have some practice and really do make sure you use all the revs and all the throttle (something 2 stroke 125s are good at training you for).
OK, think 7.5 seconds or so to 60 is for the standard E320 so the AMG one might be quicker.
All the best

Yeah my CBR400 will do 60 in first. You need rev your bike all the way round.
Otherwise you will get beaten by comparatively slow machines, again.
Your bike will beat pretty much any car on the road without any problems.

Awww c'mon Buddha, I can get my 125 to about 55mph in 2nd gear since it's been de-restricted!!!!
Maybe that's why my bike's f*cked the now!!!
I would say I'm pretty good at racing cars off the lights, not really been beaten yet when I've been trying!!!
Wouldn't say my wee 125 would do much in a straight though and I know that, so once I beat them off the lights I just tend to sit back rather than make myself look silly.
Buddha, I take my hat off to you for posting that message though! ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10
