What age and price range are you looking at?

What type of riding do you aim to do with the bike?

Age/price range- i'll probably get brand new- age maybe 2 years or sooner. Cost doesn't worry me that much.

Riding type- mostly convenience- shift work means less hassle. Weekends are different-probably round country lanes and that.

In otherwords. Im not going to cane it to start with-if ever. I want a nice looking bike with a bit of power that's there if i need/want it. Cool

Are you talking the CBR600RR? If so this is a pretty focused bike, you will probably find the GSXR a better all round bike.

If you're thinking of the F model, also consider a zx636r A model (if they can still be got), as these offer similar refinements.

Aah i'll look these up. Ta for that.

Here's the story: I'll have to order these bikes into my local shop-but they need a few weeks notice so i'll have to be dead sure what i want. Cool

On every 600 your going to be changing gears quite often compared to a 750 or a 1000, BUT if i had to say one it would be the GSXR, for me it wins hands down, its just a better overall bike, it looks better (arguably) and suits cruising well and for those long windy country roads it just awesome.

While you can't get so much of an idea, personally I'd try and get some test rides first.

But then I'd also go second hand and not spend as much money on a first big bike, even if I had had the money to spend Smile.
(I did end up getting a one yeart old zx6r when upgrading from a klr650: so my first 100hp bike;I regretted it.)

Aaah good points there.

Thing is-im on a time scale- i've only got.ooh....10 weeks before i have to go away for a few months so ideally i want to have everything done and dusted for when i get back. I gotta go down the shop and get a new helmet today anyway so i'll ask a few q's then! Cool

Try the 2003-2004 CBR600RR's, i'm a little bias there though. There is a new model out for 2005 but abolutley no point in spending the extra cash on the newer model. Nothing wrong with the GSXR's though.

CBR 600

Get one of the F series (F, FX, F1 etc) for general use or the RR if racing is your game (which it dont sound like from what you said).

Looks gorgeous, especially new and all the build quality of a Honda - wont fall apart if you try Wink

I would look at the CBR600F as a first big bike. It's a bit more user friendly and less focussed than the other 600 sports that you're talking about. It's also a Honda. Wink

Lol fair point. At the end of the day, i'll have to see what's available-which is usually everything so that doesn't help much. Cool

Or one of these (see below)-

1999 Black/Silver
£3995
10k miles
Perfect condition
Dubble bubble Tinted Screen + Carbon Hugger

If you shop around you'll find them from 3200 - 4200 for the 99 models in good - great condition.

Going new will be in the region of 5-6 i think, was not an option for me so didnt take that detailed a look.
