i own an ar50, with a standard 5 speed gearbox.
but when im in 5th gear im red lining and i htink the bike could do with another gear.

i heard somewhere that in a ar50 5 speed gearbox, there is a space for a 6th gear? if anyone had any ideas i would like to hear them.

i am aware that u can buy a 6 speed gearbox for the ar50.

It would be far easier just to change the sprockets.

I have no idea if you can get a 6 speed box for an ar50, it's a 50 so another gear would probably just be a waste of time.

I would have thought you would be very hard pushed to put a sixth gear into a five speed box. You could spend tons of money on a six speed box, or you could lengthen all the ratios and put a larger front sprocket on.

Six gears to get to 40-50 seems a little excessive to me.

the thing is i race it, so that little bit more is needed lol

i heard that instead of a 6th gear there is a washer or something, i realy need to take it apart i guess.

Not that I know,
but surely even 5 gears on a 50cc means you are changing gear constantly.

otherwise I agree with what has already been said, just change the sprocket.

Cheers

'but surely even 5 gears on a 50cc means you are changing gear constantly'

you get used to it, lol

my bike had been tweaked or something before i had it, 3-5 are quite long gears, i just redline still in 5th, so i guess i could stick another long 6th gear in it to make a general higher top speed.

If you really must have six gears instead of just gearing it up nicely with a bigger front sprocket, then you'll have to buy an AR80 engine and fit either the whole engine, or strip it and put the gears into your bottom end.
The 80 has a better clutch as well.
If memory serves, the 50 clutch can't even take an 80cc cylinder, let alone the 'power' unleashed by an autisa 93cc kit.
My old AR50(80) use to rev clean out on the biggest front cog you can buy, I needed the smallest rear cog too.

i felt when i had the ar50 that the gearing was all wrong, i know what your saying dude.

when i wanted to go up a hill 5th and 4th lost power then when you went into like 3rd it would rev like maad and hnot ever get up the hill, i remember those days fondly

you said it had the ar80 in it anyway?

thats what i was told, but i then checked the engine number, it is not an 80cc.

will the ar125 engine fit in the frame with slight modification?

Also sticking a 125cc into a frame designed for a 50 will be dangerous... For a start it wont take the power. And also a 125 has beefier brakes than a 50 Wink (taking the hint)

60mph isnt bad going for a 50. Are you sure its 60 tho Razz

Im chuffed to bits. Got me scoot back today after a complete bearing change and new top end (Full rebuild)... No more rattels Very Happy and she runs sweet as! (More power too)

Take a look on ebay for the ar80, There are loads of breakers on there, you will probably get an 80cc setup for about £100...

id try a front sprocket with 1 more teeth if i was you, or i think you can put the rear sprocket from an 80 on it.
if you arnt to worried about getting your collar felt then go for the 80cc engine, you dont sound too botherd to me so go for it, or you can buy a 93cc big bore kit for them, i think they are at www.50cc.nl
