Heh, I just checked my PSI on my front tyre. Its supposed to be 19 but it was about 9!

I take it thats bad Razz

Has anyone else had some big surprises when going over your bikes to do routine maintenance etc?

y pressures are supposed to be 32F nad 36R but were 25F and 28R.... Shocked

Guys I really don't know how much psi are my tires supposed to have. The front is a bt-014 160 and the rear is a dunlop that came with the bike (secon hand). When I went to the petrol station the guy checked it, it read 30. I don't know if thats good or not, can anyone help me out please?

I once rode my jawa from Edinburgh to Aberdeen then found that half of the end of the fork leg (the bit with the pinch bolt) had snapped off en-route and the wheel spindle was just sitting in the recess. Only the weight of the bike was holding it in place, good job it doesn't do wheelies!

I check mine daily at the moment, during winter it's best to if you use
your bike daily.

Pressures do change due to the weather, during the summer months
it's no so bad.

It's always best to keep the pressures up to what the manufacturers
state, the bike will handle properly and you get better fuel economy.

Mine say on the swingarm, i cant remember exactly though its 1.9 bar for the rear.

When i rode down a massive hill the back end was fishtailing all over the place, and my mate following me thought i was going to lose it. So we went to the garage and it had like 5psi in it.

Its funny how small amounts of pressure dont affect some bikes, but on otheres it completely changes them

Don't forget to check your tyre pressures with a COLD tyre. I once checked mine after an hour on the motorway and it was 20 psi up on the recomended. When I checked it the next day at cold it was spot on.

Don't ride 4/5 miles to the garage and use their cr4p airline guage, spend a fiver and buy a decent pressure guage and check them at home before you go anywhere. For bike tyres a decent footpump is better than relying on airlines at garages, and normally saves you 20p each time.

Yeah, I got my PSi from my Haynes Manual. 19 Front, 23 Back.

I then used a footpump to get it up to near enough what its supposed to be.
