If any of you are interested I just got an aftermarket exhaust for my XR. It was an universal one that fits all 4 strokes. Boy does it sound mean, shame that when people hear it they turn round and see a little 125 though.
Still keeps the cars alert when I filter, they hear me before seeing me.

AS the "resident" XR owner, just wondering - where and how much is the zorst and how cool does it look? I've removed the airbox rubber to make it sound deeper, but not significantly louder.

The modifications won't really add much BHP now would it? Prolly mess up the fuelling a little, but please tell me as i'm more than interested. Cheers

Titot

EDIT: err, just realised that y'all XR owners - oh hi Nick!

Hi Sorry for the slow response, I only have internet acess at work.

It cost £150 and made by FMF. It's a universal called "FMF MEGAMAX", so you need to get the pipe made up by a bike shop, or shape the pipe yourself.
I got it from Rush racing in Exeter, I ordered it on a friday and received it on the Monday, free post too.

You don't gain any power really, just feels a bit more nippier up the top, nothing major though. I took out a couple of the noise rings this morning, but will be putting them back tonight as it sounds much better with more.

I'm not selling the pipe or the bike as I'm using it.

When you say you need to get the pipe made up do u mean the connection pipe from the backbox to the downpipe?

Yeh, there's a connection down near your right foot. You need it to go from there up to the can. I was going to cut the old pipe up, but decided not to as I might need it for when I sell the bike.
Plus I then found out it wa more like a cone shape than what I needed.

I found out the other day that the MOT noise legistlation has changed. You no longer need an BS stamp, as long as it's not too noisy it's down to the MOT tester.
Not sure how this will work as if they pass a too noisy can they could lose there license.

yeah i know where the connection is as i have taken the silencer off before. How much do you reckon it would cost to have a pipe made up?

I got mine done cheap as I knew the people in the bike shop, I reckon it could cost an hour or two labour. allot for a pipe on a little XR125 but I desperatly wanted a pipe for it to drown out it's whining.
If you speak to your local bike shop and see if they have any old pipes laying about they might bend it for you too, to the shape you need.
Otherwise you might need to see if you can hire pipe benders, not sure if ya can, but you can hire most things these days.

No it'll need a bit of a modification, after that it'll be a slip on.

Trust me when I say it's definitely deep in sound. Heads turn and cars split and let you through, think it gives them a headache if they're too close.
Going through tunnels does my ears in, so what must it be like for others. Still hopefully this will help the car nuts to look before they turn if they turn if they hear me. Knowing my luck I'll get knocked off by a deaf person.

I've got a Senda SM125, same engine as an XR125 but I'm not sure about the exhaust. How much modification are we talking?

It would be from the can to the first join in the pipe.

I notice you live in Essex, ya never know ya might hear me one day, mines the same colour as your XR.

Do you mean of my bike or the can??
Rush Racing was where I got the can from and it's the Universal mega- Max, ignore the little lugs on it as that's not on it.

I want to try and get a pic of my bike the weekend to put on here??

No mate, to be honest I cant be arsed making bits up to fit my bike. I'd rather just wait until I can get a slip-on end can from somewhere. Because my bike's only been out here since september there's not really much available for it yet.
