After spending a load of time in the workshop having the engine rebuilt and the headstock bearings and rear shock replaced, the linkages sorted and everything that is wrong, put right, the NSR is going to be valeted, and is then going to see a specialist who will respray the NSR so all the panels match, and apply any decals I choose to fit. At this point the NSR should be in very good condition indeed, looking almost mint. The bike will be sold with a load of spares, including an entire engine/clutch/gearbox arrangement, spare clipons, yokes, spare swingarm, spare rear wheel, standard indicators, replacement subframe, cdi, indicator relays etc....

The bike is a 2001 NSR with just under 11000 miles on the clock, it's a genuine UK model.

Anyone think there's some way I can squeeze £2000 out of all of the above? Whether I sell the bike alone, or with the parts?

What are your opinions/recommendations?
(Paddock stand not included)

Hmmm, 11,000 miles on a two stroke honda.

Hard to judge unbiased, when I'd eprsonally not touch one. I'd reckon £2000 as a very maximum. £1800 no offers is what I'd do it for. Smile

Bear in mind the engine is having £330 worth of work done to it. When the bike gets back to me, the engine (or the top end+exhaust at least) will be as good as new Cool .

Why spray it? Leave it black, looks cool black and saves you loads of money on an un-neccessary respray. It's a learner bike, people expect scratches etc.

And judging by adverts like this:

And what friends have sold theirs for, I wouldn't say your bike was worth any where near £2000.

2003 models with 8k on them go for that, doubt you will get £1500.

Irdawood sold his 2000 NSR for £2000.
It was not in as good a condition as mine will be once the mechanical work is completed. Cool

Don't bother getting it resprayed, the cost of doing it will be more than you increase the value by.

Also, sell the spares seperately, people won't think much of the bike if you're saying "here is the bike, it is so good and reliable that I am including all these spares which of course you're not going to actually ever need".

Hi

Suspect you will not get £2000 for the bike, probably £1600 to £1800. Respraying may be worthwhile depending on how much it is costing you, but at full commercial prices not likely.

I suspect you will defintaly get a better price for the spares sold seperately. In some ways some people might even be put off it.

All the best

Keith

I sold my 1998 NSR125RR (French import) with 36,000km on the clocks that l had low sided and scuffed the bottom panel, for £2050 back in April on eBay. 125cc sports bike go for silly amounts of money especially when selling to ped boys. I reckon you could get £2000 its all in the way you advertise it.

Leave it as it is mate, and sell the spares on ebay. I reckon you could make £1500 or so on the bike, and around £350 to £400 for the spares if you sold them separately. Which is more than I reckon you'd get for selling them as a job lot with the bike. BTW drop me a PM if you decide to go this way as I might take some of the bits off your hands for you Thumbs Up (dont let this generous offer cloud your judgement though Smile )
