Okay all...
Firstly, when it is near on 2 degrees C or less outside, can I just mention how much it takes it out of you... As this is the end of day 3 of my DAS, test tomorrow, I am sitting hear barely able to keep my eyes open.
To put it midly, I am knackered! If you are going to do the DAS, be prepared to be worked hard. I dunno if it was that I had a one-on-one tutition for the last 3 days, but I do know that I am sick of riding around in the cold weather!
Anyway, how did day 3 go....
Well, after yesterday, I felt that the CB500 that I was riding wasn't as smooth as it should have been. I queried this with the test centre... some bikes are different to other, in a way that some cars drive differently...
So I asked if I could get my own mind settled, and try a different machine. They kindly said that I could try a different CB500. So on I hopped, and off I went. To say smooooottth is an understatement. The CB500 gear boxes are a bit clunky, apparantly it's a trait of Honda engines. Solid as a rock, but clunky...learn to live with it people...
Now the thottle on this new bike was a smooth as.....the old thorttle apparantly had quite a lot of free-play, and this appears to be the reason why some of my cornering wasn't as good. Got onto the new bike today, and I just rode around like a professional. So, tip #1, if you are not happy with the bike, ask to try out another one...
So I rode around, did some wonderful U-Turns, did an emergency stop...all great. Went for a coffee, as it was so cold.
Got back out and followed a test route, got to a road, which my instructor informed me was were some of the examiners do u-turns and fluffed it completly. The road was going downhill in front of me, with a camber to the right! Man, I was good on u-turns until then....I just hope I don't get it tomorrow
Anyway, After a spot of lunch, I decided to suggest to my instructor that he gives me a mock test. Baring in mind we are one-on-one here...he agrees, and off we go.
At the end of the road turn right...etc...
At the end of the mock test, he reckons that my shoulder checks are good, but I seemed to keep forgetting the double check before a corner...aka....check, indicator, check, position...ready to turn...check (sometimes)....turn...
I have hopefully fixed this, and will see in the morning...
My test is at 8:40am, so it's an early start for me.
Wish me luck!
DOOBS!
P.S. Only real advice I can give is to practice with an instructor...you will all have faults, and through constructice criticism can iron those out..... |

Good luck on the test, it's gonna be cold and wet out there today, be careful. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
